Tara Helou
Hi, my name is Tara Helou, and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #156952) working under the supervision of Nancy Cruz Biller (LMFT #40178). I am passionate about helping clients of all age groups work through life’s greatest challenges, and I commend your bravery in beginning your therapy journey.
I graduated with my BA in Psychology and Education from the University of California, Santa Cruz and my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of La Verne. I approach the therapeutic space from a culturally attuned and trauma-informed lens to work collaboratively with clients to achieve their goals. I believe therapy needs to be tailored for the individual’s or family’s needs, and I integrate approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, play therapy, and an overall strength-based and client centered approach to best serve my clients. My background in a non-profit setting gave me the opportunity to work with clients navigating everything from depression, anxiety, grief and loss, PTSD, relationship issues and family conflicts, neurodevelopmental disorders, LGBTQ+ related struggles, and more. At the heart of my work is a commitment to creating a safe, nonjudgmental, and healing space where clients feel empowered to explore their most vulnerable thoughts and experiences, and I value client feedback to best tailor treatment.
In my free time, I love to be in nature and watch sunsets, cook and bake, and build Legos. I look forward to working together!
